A poem by Ibrahim Olalere

ITS COLD OUTSIDE.

I am safe in this blanket

Its warmth carves through my armpits

while I stretch for another gulp of a hot calming tea

winters are so cold,

but am safe today...

I am safe from its chilling whispers,

Its wettish pour that reign with no restraint.

no sneezy cold or milky nose runs

I have a home that guards my tender skin

from days it is cold outside

I am safe,safe, completely safe

But my brother is shivering, drenched and homeless

so is my comfort...
